For `weird' acapella stuff, theres an LP by Sheila Chandra (on Virgin Records) - but I can't remember it's name :( Sorry! Anyway, from what I've heard, it's pretty good. Maybe what you're looking for? john.. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | e-mail: jat@ohm.york.ac.uk | | web pages start here: http://www.york.ac.uk/~jat5/ | -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- * my music: http://www.york.ac.uk/~jat5/html/music.html * *********************************************************

Inform the yanks...Is later with Jools Holland the "squeezable" equivalent to later with Bob Costas? and rather than discuss forgettable baseball statistics, do they discuss music? ______________________________________________________________________________ Cameron Bowden cameron@fishtank.com Blacksmith on the anvil in your ear... Sorry...Jools Holland used to be in Squeeze, a British pop band, then got a job in telly. He now presents a live music show where all sorts of artists come and play, from Portishead (a while ago) to Garth Brooks (last week), with lots of ageing(sp?) blues singers thrown in for fun. Not my cup of tea all the time, but he's a nice bloke Rob.

`Later... with Jools Holland' is one of *the* best music shows on British TV (IMO). Basically, a number of bands get together in a largish TV studio and do their live stuff... The music is varied (this week there was Aimee Mann, Blur, Soul II Soul, some Algerian trio - and probably some other people) so whilst you might tune in to hear a particular artist, you also get exposed to other musics which may be completely new to you. Ok, for those of you heavily into techno etc. then it's probably not for you. If, however, you're into broadening your musical horizons, then it's pretty good... Jools Holland is (for those who didn't know) a *shit hot* pianist, especially boogie-woogie/R&B styles. He used to be the keyboard player for `Squeeze'. He's currently on a UK tour (I think) and he's playing York Barbican Centre on Dec. 8th.
